Arthur's Bay, Magnetic Island

Our last day on Magnetic Island. Started the day with a stroll down to Horseshoe Bay, chatted with a few of the locals. There's a refreshing northerly breeze off the sea, which made the temperature very pleasant for us softies. We'd had a restless night because it was so warm, mid-20s, higher than daytime Summer temperature in UK!

Bought some salad and had a quick lunch before catching the island bus down to Nelly Bay again because we had been talking to our new YHA friends who were going on a sailing boat trip around part of the island coast, we decided to go too!

We had an afternoon sail on The Providence, which is the island's only tall ship, a 62ft gaff-rigged schooner, and very beautiful she is too! Lots of wood decking and wooden masts and blocks. We sailed for an hour (with some use of engine) then dropped anchor at the beautiful spot in the above blip, Arthur's Bay. Many of the 20 passengers went snorkelling but a few of us chose to stay on board enjoying the cool sea breeze. We were served up a platter of exotic fruits on our return journey. A lovely day out!

The boat has her own website: www.providencesailing.com.au

The possum was very sociable last night, whilst we were playing an Aussie version of bingo the possum was walking along the tables and at one stage got it's head stuck in one of the plastic drinking glasses!

There's another pub quiz tonight!
