Why Don’t Bones Bounce Like Balls?
Its morning. Elvis is waiting to be taken out and we are trying to enjoy a quiet cup of tea while still in bed and reading the news. Elvis has other plans. He has learnt that if he takes his ball to the top of one of our staircases (we have 7 stepped facilities of varying lengths in the house), then drops the ball, it bounces down the stairs. The fun ‘boing’ noise followed by the scrabble to recover it is designed to get our attention. It usually works. However, his devious plan is not perfect. He also has a favourite bone that is gradually being chewed to nothing. It is also used for this game. He drops it on the first step, where it makes a loud ‘clunk’. It then stays where it is. He stares at it, willing it to move. It doesn’t. He looks at it with a fixed glare. It still doesn’t move. He picks it up and drops it again. Same result. He has not learnt yet. The noise, however, is constant. I’m up now and about to take him out. Remind me who is training who here?
