Spiky tulips
Last night Murdoch seemed fractionally better, but still seemed to be in much pain and very uncomfortable. The vet said he still had a temperature and as his pancreatitis was a very bad case (his amylase levels were way off the chart) it would take time for him to get better. I managed to feed him a little chicken and rice last night which was good.
Today, Murdoch has not eaten so far and was also not drinking. The vet gave me a large syringe and recommended that I mix the Hill's specialist dog food with water and syringe it into his mouth. I managed to give him several syringes of this watery mixture, although there is not much food in it as the syringe opening is too small. He wagged his tail for the first time today so maybe he is slowly improving. Due to the pain he is walking in a strange way and his back legs shake. It is so sad to see. We had to smile as he went outside to do a wee, and there was a blackbird on the lawn, usually he rushes at them and barks as no blackbird is allowed to sit on is lawn! He shuffled towards the blackbird and then gave a feeble attempt at a run, but clearly could not manage it - but good to see that he was still interested in chasing birds off our lawn!
I managed to get my hair trimmed today and bought some more groceries for the weekend. Meriel arrived today so we are full house this week.
This tulip is growing in my garden - I have a few that have come up, not the masses I anticipated though, as the squirrels and deer have done a good job of munching through my bulbs.
