Gone in an instant(gram)
I'm hanging up my moccasins... Throwing in my organic, handmade hemp towel... Resigning from Reddit...
That's right, this is the news that Instagram has changed it's Terms Of Service so it can now sell your photographs for use in advertising...
Well this has done it for me - I am no longer a hipster. I'm done!
In all seriousness though, I am not self-obsessed enough to believe that advertisers really want pictures of my lunch with the 'Earlybird' filter applied. I'm also not insisting that everyone delete their instagram account; if you don't give a toss about Facebook selling your pictures for advertising (or if you're willing to trade that for the ability to easily see and share your pictures or your friends' pictures) then keep it, I don't care.
I deleted my account, though. I'm not okay with my pictures being sold for advertising, because I don't know what they might be advertising and I might not want to endorse whatever it is... Let me pay 69p for Instagram and don't sell my shit online instead, Facebook.
"If you're not paying for a service, you're the product, not the customer"... Remember that
Let me be the customer, Mark - then I have the right to demand decent customer service.
