Rainy Met
A shot taken as I approached the Metropolitan Museum in NYC today, perfectly capturing the rainy, chilly day (high 45˚/8˚) . I saw an exhibition of daguerreotypes taken by Girault de Prangey (1842-1892) on a three-year journey in the 1840s throughout the Eastern Mediterranean. This collection is "the world's oldest photographic archive," with the earliest surviving images from several of the countries he visited. Marylee stayed in in the apartment; both of us were recovering from jetlag after yesterday's flight from Paris, smooth as it was.
