Monks Ya Bas!

Here's a demonstration of how unsuitable an iPhone camera is at low light levels. I had to lighten the image heavily (lighten heavily? um...) for this graffiti to be legible at all. Thus the huge amount of noise all over the image. Though it's hard to make out, the dark area in the centre is a door: the wall and ground have merged together into the noise.

In the ten years I've been living in Dennistoun, the streets around my house have been contested by three street gangs, if the graffiti is anything to go by. The Haghill Powery and the Duke Street Firm have appeared on walls in the past. Currently the Monks seem to be in the ascendant.

Regrettably, their female offshoot seems to have disappeared: I haven't seen there name on a wall for a good few years. Why is this regrettable? Because they had the best female gang name I've ever seen: The She Monks!
