The accidental finding

Pearly light

First day in Ceredigion (Cardiganshire), Wales!

After a brief stint at the market stall in Stroud, I returned home to meet my fellow-travellers in Stroud, Angela and Brian. We packed the car and set off, choosing the country route through mid Wales as opposed to the motorway. Highlight of our trip was probably a quick stop in Lampeter, but the weather gradually cleared and we began driving through green, green valleys studded with sheep and lambs.

We got to our chalet park at about teatime, and were shortly joined by Helen, who had come from Powys, where she lives. It's very close to the sea here, not raining! Eventually we got the heater working, after turning it upside down to examine it, and began to rearrange the furniture. Our chalet is well-appointed and has its own deck, which we can sit on if the weather improves!

It's quiet here. Not many people about, seeing as it's low season. We took a walk down to the private beach, where I captured this pink light on the water. The beach itself isn't lovely, and looking at the cliffs behind, it's clear that there has been recent, dramatic erosion. We left soon after we noticed that, passing a waterfall plunging down a steep gully on the way back up to the holiday village. Angela and I also found the Ceredigion coastal path. We'll walk tomorrow: hurrah!

Back at the chalet, Angela attempted to cook supper on the dysfunctional hob. As it took about three hours, we played PubQuiz, a ridiculously easy game, and a more fun game called dinner party icebreakers. Alcohol was consumed. Possibly too much...

Stumbled into bed about midnight. Sleep followed instantly.
