Francesinha Friday
I had lunch with my friend Paulo, pictured. I asked about his weekend plans and he said he has a family engagement party to attend. ‘It’s gonna be long weekend. I wanna be drunk.’ Paulo is a good laugh and shows me clips of RuPaul’s Drag Race, which is not something I’ve delved into before. It was a far cry from the subsequent debates I had about religion with my Portuguese teacher. I emitted some rare bursts of good speaking comprehension that seemed to please Ilidio. And given that his previous life before teaching was undertaking training to become a man of the cloth, we have some interesting discussions about our different viewpoints.
Although I didn’t quite meet my intended goal on a proposal I’m working on, I escaped from the office late to meet friends for some well-earned 2M Mozambican lagers. The relaxed Portuguese restaurant, Meia Tigela, serves a speciality francesinha. It’s finger-lickin’ good, especially when hot chilli sauce is added. The google definition of this dish is:
