left to its own devices

This, believe it or not, is a xmas tree in my garden.
It was planted in the early 1980's to see "how it would get on". It obviously got on fine and is now about 30ft tall!
It has started a trend - we are planting out our very healthy xmas tree in a pot that we've had 2 years running - its time to go out into the garden and be left to its own devices...
