Log Pile (DS135)
Following on from yesterday's borrowing a chainsaw Gill and I spent some time today clearing some of the cut wood on the railway line behind our house. It is something of a wildlife corridor and we would like to keep it that way. Some of the smaller pieces went into this log pile which we hope will encourage insects and become a food source for the birds etc. Run off water now drains to where the track once was and as the section here is in the deepest part of a cutting it never really dries out. It is now is home to common newts.
I'll put this in for Derelict Sunday as the rail line was abandoned in the 60s and had been something of a dumping ground before the houses were built.
