Fishing on the Luangwa river...
Coming home today I had to pass over the Luangwa bridge (its a one lane bridge that spans the Zambezi river). When I was crossing in February the river was almost in flood due to the heavy rains. However, since then we have had virtually no rains and as you can see its drying up fast. The sandy bit behind the fishermen was totally in flood last time I passed. Also I noticed today that many maize farms are totally dried up due to lack of rains. I think this will be a year of hunger in the region.
The extra photo is a church on the banks of the river - not a great picture but the best I could do from the bridge!
