Midland Railway
The Midland Railway (MR) company arrived in Bradford in 1853 and over time rebuilt what is now known as Forster Square Station. 1890 saw the biggest development with the construction of a large complex including the Midland Hotel (seen here through the railings on the right), a passenger station and a goods station.
Most of the station buildings have been demolished, but part of the screen arcade that fronted the station remains. These railings form part of that arcade, with MR insignia cunningly wrought into the design.
The Midland Railway company was incorporated into the London, Midland and Scottish (LMS), one of the "big four" companies, in 1923.
