Not quite high tea ...
When I was a child, an occasional treat, usually in the run-up to Christmas, was to go into Glasgow city centre to look at the lights and have High Tea in a tearoom. (For the uninitiated, High Tea was a 5 o’clockish meal consisting of fish, chips, a slice of bread and butter and a pot of tea. The sybaritic might add a cake.)
I thought of this today when we went en famille for a splendid lunch halfway up The Shard, from where I took this blip. It was misty all day, but even in the mist the view was dramatic. The meal, with its buffet-style desserts, was lovely, and the “bottomless wine” had me asleep on the train home.
Another London landmark scored off!
