Run in With the Rozzers

I'd only just fired off 2 shots with the flock of birds high up in the tree when a big white and yellow police van crawled round the corner, stopped right behind my car and the occupants looked over. Parked right under 'waxwing tree' they got out and slammed both doors - loudly! The tree emptied. They then headed for me, well us, as there was another twitcher there too.

On being questioned looking suspiciously at the lenses as to what we were doing, I pointed upwards to innocently say, 'Photographing the bir........' stopping mid-flow when anyone could see there was not a bird in sight! 'Er well there was...' did sound a bit lame!

This area is particularly dodgy crime wise not least because in May 2 people were arrested round the corner from here for terrorist offences and they had to do controlled explosions. GCHQ is just down the road. The police checked our photographs and started to be more human. I didn't make blippers out of them but they did learn about waxwings!

The upshot of the encounter is this as the birds never returned - a few less shots than yesterday then :))
