Well!? Did It Work?

Look! I'm still holding my wing up...!
Spent the day with Mark taking walks and soaking up the sunshine when we came across this little bird pretending to be hurt to draw us away from her nest site. I’m pretty sure the eggs/babies are safe as there is nothing but berry brambles around. Pretty soon her husband showed up and it was double the show. They did a very elaborate broken wing show luring us farther and farther away.  We only stuck around long enough to get some great shots because we didn’t want to stress them out too much as they have nested in a heavily trafficked area and are sure to draw more attention. These little birds are called Killdeers and look pretty plain until they fly or spread their wings to show their colors.  Good luck to this little family and we will check in on them again later.
