Toothwort

Yesterday afternoon F and I went for a walk along the River Ceiriog which was very high with water from the Welsh Hills.  There were a lot of primroses, violets and celandines on the banks which were really beautiful.

We saw a pair of grey wagtails in the river and also a dipper, they must have found it difficult to cope with the rushing water.

My blip is toothwort which is a parasitic plant that lives on the roots of hazel, elm or alder. Their light colour is because they don't have chlorophyll.

The extra photo is a fly that we couldn't identify. It's abdomen is blue and green but unfortunately it was covered with it's wings when it landed. Does anyone know what it is please?
