NOORDWIJKERHOUT
Tulipflowers in the field.
To find out where we should go to admire the flowerfields (in dutch: bollenvelden) had taken quite some time. Would we go to Sassenheim by lightroom and train? or go to Lisse with lightrail, train and bus? or to Noordwijkerhout? I asked Farishta for advice and she said Noordwijkerhout would be great. And it was.
We went with lightrail to The Hague Central station and from there with bus 90. We went today because the forecast was good, it said: Sunny. And it was.
We had downloaded a description of the walking path from the Zuidhollands Landscap. It was a bit hot, walking in the sun along the fields. And we were glad that we could sit inside a restaurant for an espresso. From there we walked in the dunes, and only once we left that for fields with lovely flowers, see my main photo.
We returned back in the dunes, and a path eventually led us to the sea.
When we walked there for only one minute a stark mist came from the south and envelopped us and everyone. As if we were blind we walked southwards and reached Noordwijk, a famous seaside resort.
I lived for a long time in Leiden, and Piet Hein studied there and with my parents we cycled to Noordwijk often and also to Noordwijkerhout, for great recreation times.
From Noordwijk we went back with Bus 385 to The Hague and the lightrail to Loosduinen.
Tired but satisfied to have had such a marvellous and adventurous day out.
