Red Shoulders

On an 11 mile trail in the Everglades, driving on a tiny dirt road in the middle of the swamp, I let out a quiet shriek to stop and back up. Sitting hunting on a branch was this beautiful red-shouldered hawk. Managing to get a few shots between the leaves and branches before he flew I just thought how magnificent he looked.

Stopping the car later and getting out, being bitten to death, I caught a Florida water  snake basking on a log which was great to see.
