Mill

This is present day Tooveys Mill.
The Mill was in place at the time of the Domesday Survey of 1086.
It was bought in 1763 by John Surrey. In 1797 the Grand Union Canal (known as the Grand Junction Canal at that time) was diverted along with the River Gade to allow the Mill to function better and to allow access to barges to the site. In 1846 the Mill was leased to Thomas Toovey and then to his son William Toovey. In 1894 a new steam engine and a new steel roller mill was installed and large scale flour milling began.

Off to SAM's today so commenting will be limited i'm afraid.

Have a great day everyone.
