#DodgeCity: the real working heart of Liverpool
To Wigan in the morning and the Dock Road, Liverpool in the afternoon.
In Wigan, I wandered around The Galleries shopping centre and the market. The Galleries was opened in 1989 by Princess Di iirc. The place was back then a shopping tour de force; now the upper floors are empty, totally, The market seems to be hanging on, much better than other local markets such St Mary's in St Helens. Had a natter with one of the stall holders, she was cheerful but had heard a rumour that the local college had its eyes on The Galleries, presumably to convert into classrooms... err... I mean, learning environmental spaces in modern educational manglement speak. (Sheesh!)
The Dock Road is being upgraded and the wagons were backed up along its length into the port area. There are many interesting buildings along it, as well as characters too. The docks are not what they were once were, obviously, I only saw one Cypriot registered vessel being unloaded but hey one is better than none. Long live Dodge City!
