Close Encounters of the Herd Kind

I did the first of my Longshaw nest box surveys. We are really looking out for Pied Flycatchers and Redstart, but it's a bit early for them yet. A few of my 26 boxes were already occupied by Blue Tits and one had Nuthatches in residence. The most unexpected encounter was with 4 Red Deer. They were quite close to the path, and didn't seem at all phased to see me.
