Our Night Sky
We had a clearer day today for weather, but we spent it indoors getting the Gite ready for the summer guests. Tonight, I still had to put the chickens away, or rather close and lock the coop door. There are signs of pine martins in the garden (their scat is pretty familiar to us by now). So we just like to make sure they are as safe as we can make them. We did have a crisis a few years ago when we had the curious case of the ‘Murder at the Maine’. Almost all the chickens had met a sticky end, with just a couple surviving, but with serious post traumatic stress. We weren’t sure of the culprit, but when we did some renovations in the roof space, we found fouine scat (pine martin poo) plus chicken feathers. The case was solved, but made us more careful about our girls. The sun had almost completely set when I walked back from the coop, but this was the view. Just grabbed a snap of it before the lighter sky vanished for the night.
