Irish Gate from the battlements of Carlisle Castle
Took my third oldest grandson, who is six in June, to Carlisle Castle. We had a good look round and he was very impressed and asked plenty of questions, some of which I could answer and some I could not. In any case we enjoyed ourselves. This image is of the Irish gate which was built in the place of the original. This gate forms a footbridge over the main road and is shaped to represent a bow, with an upright as an arrow.
