The leaves are falling...

...and these, from the silver birches, are lying across our double hedge that edges our drive for a short distance.
Dr D detached our large lawn last week with a great gadget that goes on the front of our Walker mower, then yesterday took  the truck to purchase a couple of cubic metres of lawn mix soil to apply to a large-ish area that I'd sprayed with herbicide to kill the dense couch grass that had grown heartily on our newly landscaped area outside the stitching cave. He used the tractor and loader to dump heaps over the area , then raked it all out  . This afternoon I've sown the grass seed and raked it over in readiness for tomorrow's promised rain. Fingers crossed for a vigorous germination of good grass this time : ))
