Slave to the regime
She did it again! Audrey slept through last night for the fourth time in her tiny life - the new routine (regime more like) is a triumph!
So I stayed home today to try and make it stick. Of course Audrey changed it up (I just follow her cues and try and stick to it there or thereabouts) but the principles were the same - she's napping for longer and therefore needing less short catnaps and more long sleeps which in turn must be helping her nighttime sleep. Or so I presume.
The feeding part of the new 'regime' is intense though. No sooner have I fed her and meal time seems to roll round again. Weaning is very restrictive as regards leaving the house I've found! Just the paraphernalia you need alone could put you off - baby food, cool bag, spoons, bowls, bibs, wipes, snacks, muslins, nappies, bottles....it goes on! But I have to leave. I need a life too. I don't want to become a weaning Mum hermit like I have been these past few says.
And because she's sleeping for these long daytime naps, putting her in the pram to sleep could also pose problematic. She wakes if the pram is stationary. So that could mean being on the go for two hours if her recent naps are anything to go by. Now I like a walk, but two hours!!!! My next training mission is teaching her to sleep in a stationary pushchair. Preferably in a wine bar.
My sister was here all day (after her interview - no news yet and I have no fingernails left - we both jumped every time the phone beeped this afternoon).
She was feeling under-the-weather so she flopped on the sofa and watched a film. She watched me tearing around the house, ricocheting from room to room - making feeds, cleaning up after feeds, changing nappies, washing clothes, making meals, washing up, changing bins, writing Xmas cards, playing with Audrey, typing work emails...it goes on. She said she felt exhausted just watching me and she made me realise I literally don't stop. I never sit down (unless to eat). There is no time. Ever.
Tomorrow I have work meetings in Nottingham so I have been prepping for those all evening. My parents are here again to save the day looking after Chuckles. I've typed up notes on the regime for them, God help them!!! At least there's two of them. How can one teeny weeny little baby cause all this hard work? It beggars belief!
