Palm Tree

Palm trees do not grow in the part of NC where I grew up, but here in the southeastern corner of the state, they flourish.  I know very little about them, so I was pleasantly surprised to find what seems and looks like a bloom on  the palm tree I planted in my yard about 10 years ago.  The trunk  of the tree is on the right side of the photo.   If you know more, please share.
