Grandad's passport pic: a suit & tie Beckett

This is my grandfather C. O. Vollmer in his NZ passport photo, circa 1962 (aged 61). He had a full head until he died in 1986, and quite the piercing gaze. (I inherited his eyebrow skills - alas, not his hairline!)

Grandad was born Charles Otto, but gave his middle name as Oscar when enrolling in the British Army in 1922 (aged 21). Guess having a Germanic middle name as well as a German surname was a problem in the aftermath of the Great War...
