-Shags, also known as Cormorants are related to Gannets and Pelicans
-The Pied Cormorant is endemic to NZ 
-There are at least twelve species in this country
-They are medium to large sized swimming birds
-Can be found in salt or fresh water
-They live on fish pursued and caught underwater
-Nesting is in colonies

A very big thank you for your response to yesterday’s butterfly. It was unexpected and lovely to receive the many comments, stars and hearts. I am thrilled to see it sitting high on the popular pages. After overnight rain and dull weather I didn’t see one Common Blue in my garden today.
