Plastic ad infinitum

Plastic debris such as this is spread the full length of our local beach, and I would guess every other beach. When will our citizens and our elected politicians get their acts together to do something about this increasingly serious and dangerous problem? What a pig's dinner we are making of our once beautiful planet.
