Flying the Flag
I guess this flag serves several purposes. For those who have just driven across the English-Scottish border without noticing, it's a useful reminder that you are now in the land of cakes. (You couldn't really fail to notice the border, it's on the top of a hill and the road up/down is seriously bendy. There's a handy stopping place complete with burger van, but no piper these days, unless someone is going to give it a go this summer.)
It also signifies that the museum, housed in the old jail, is now open for the tourist season. And for those of us who live close by, we get a good idea of which way the wind is blowing.
It was from the east today, and I didn't need the flag to tell me, the single figure temperature was enough.
I took the shot from the top of the garden - the bare twigs in the foreground are our fruit trees and I was checking that they aren't going to blossom while the weather is so cold. Last year we had a miserable crop, fingers crossed they hold on a bit.
