The Original Red Man A.D. 1876
8 Ormerod Street, Worsthorne Nr. Burnley displays this architectural decoration - The Red Man.
He's a very well armed figure with an oversized musket in his right hand and a sword to his left.
There are a number of theories regarding his origin including that the building was constructed as a Public House whilst another theory is that the figure represents a postal officer or a game keeper.
I favour the Public House theory myself.
