Warm-up act

I discovered yesterday that Colin the cuckoo is back and so we took the dogs for an early walk this morning and then headed over to the common to see him. As we arrived, some photographers were just leaving, having seen him come down for a photo session at about 9.30 am, so we had high hopes of seeing him before we had to leave at 12 pm (as Mr DA was going to the football). Unfortunately, however, although we heard him several times in the trees on the edge of 'his' field, and the couple next to us (there were twenty photographers there!) could see him perching in one of them, he didn't come down in time for us today. I must admit that I'd had enough by then anyway as it was really cold and I wasn't adequately dressed for it. So, here's one of his warm-up acts, a stonechat - there was also a pair of woodlarks today - and we'll probably pop back again tomorrow...
