Rope Roller

One of the film crew asked me during shooting at the Dockyard today: “Why do some of the windows have rollers in them?”

The two buildings featuring ‘roller windows’ are part of the ropery and fitted rigging house so the window rollers were used to transport rope between buildings for fitting the rigging for ships.

So much history with these old buildings and if you look closely enough they tell their own stories.
