Boy With A Straw Hat...

Not my original photo of course, but I was told it was OK to photograph it and post it online. It's by Diane Arbus and is currently in Edinburgh at the Portrait Gallery as part of the Self Evidence exhibition of photographs by Francesca Woodman, Diane Arbus and Robert Mapplethorpe.

The Vietnam War became increasingly unpopular and there were many protests throughout the USA. This boy however is in favour of the war with badges which say "Bomb Hanoi" and "God Bless America: Support Our Boys in Vietnam". I wonder if he later went to fight in the war, and if so, whether he still felt the same way afterwards.
