If you can't beat them...

The Old Boy

Pheasants are one of the commonest birds we get in the garden.  Almost every time you look out of the out there is at least one in view.  If you are careful some of them will let you get within a couple of metres (6 ft).

The male, we can't be sure if it is the same from year to year is always known as "the Old Boy".  All we can be sure about is the male is always a "ring neck".  Pheasants with ring necks are a sub species of the Pheasant ( Phasianus colchicus).  Native to Asia all pheasants in the UK ow their origin to introductions for shooting, in fact many are bred in captivity and released each year.
