Macallan

At Christmas I received a present of a tour of the new Macallan distillery. It opened in June 2018 and is unlike any distillery I have been to previously. The picture above shows the distillery seen from the visitor car park, the first extra is an interior view, the second extra is the displaying the visitor centre of Macallan whisky bottles going back over 100 years. Building work on the distillery began in 2014, and more details can be found here.

The tour lasted 1½ hours. At the conclusion of the tour we had a tasting of four different malts. Of those we were offered my preference was the 12 year old sherry oak. On preparing to leave we were each given a Macallan whisky glass. Of course in addition we purchased a couple of miniatures as presents.
