A Sad Tale

Yes it's a grey and a non-native but they are still clever little chaps and we enjoy seeing them go backwards and forwards from the trees in our neighbour's garden to the elder tree.  This afternoon I spotted two traversing the patio and decided to take some time out to watch them.  Their reward for me blipping them,  a bowlful of nuts.

Now the sad part.  Some time later and the tea prepared and in the oven, I popped in to the bedroom and spotted one sitting on a neighbour's wall munching on a nut.  A car drove up the street and spooked him/her and she ran straight under its wheels.  We checked and thankfully it was killed outright.
