Gairlochy lighthouse
A dinky lighthouse to mark the Gairlochy lockgates where there is a double lock and a swingbridge.
The 60 mile long Caledonian canal was surveyed by James Watt, designed by Thomas Telford and built by William Jessop over 12 years at a cost of £910,000. Using 29 locks the canal links the great lochs of Loch Dochfour, Loch Ness, Loch Oich and Loch Lochy to make a safe shipping route along the great glen.
