A great day of walking
Today was the big day for Arth (and Aggie) and me. We went on the recce for the Singing Walk. I'm down to lead this walk, but there has been doubt all along as to whether I would be ready to walk that far in time.
I walked 4.5 miles (yes, Margret next door, it is just over 4 miles!) and I was fine. Arth was fine and Aggie was fine. Arth was a bit stiff after I drove home.
It's a lovely route alongside Haltwhistle Burn and on to Cawfields Quarry. We have planned places to sing and are happy with them. I do hope it does not rain........
As we arrived in the car park at the end of the walk, who should be see but these three volunteers. They have been clearing paths around the Alston Arches and were off to Knarsdale to do more work. They - Ian, Jan and Peter - volunteer with the South Tyne Railway. Ian and Jan walk with our Wednesday group.
When I came home I flaked out for a sleep. Four miles was clearly a bit much when I've been out of action for so long, but I'm actually on cloud 9.
