Beautiful Bugs

The warmth has brought out the bugs, I'm so pleased. :)

My main image is a scarce fungus weevil which looks just like a bird dropping. I've never photographed one of these before. I read up on it just before I took Ollie dog to Eastwick to get some dog food. There was a programme on the radio in the car about King Alfred's daughter and the burning of the cakes was mentioned. What a coincidence! I'd just read that this weevil lives on a black fungus of ailing ash trees known as King Alfred's cakes.

I've included a couple of pics of another bug that I've never togged before. Planthopper nymphs are tiny and have strange bunches of bristles on their rear ends. Evidently these help with concealment and gliding.
