Scaly Sculptures
Scaly Sculpture in Bronze
Where I work there are sculptures that seem to 'pop up' at random every week. Perhaps there is a resident sculptor hiding in one of the building basements. This 'wannabee' Henry Moore, or whoever, then chips and casts away all night long. Then - 'Hey Presto' and yet another work of art magically appears!
I like most of them, and I think they cheer the place up. It is art and culture in the workplace; something to distract you from the daily political strife and impossible deadlines. An antidote to 'uber managers' !!
It is interesting to appreciate texture, form, function, impression, aesthetics... What is the sculptor trying to portray? This particular piece seems rather scaly and bumpy, with many octopus style type of suckers?, but is still very lithe and graceful in human body terms. Perhaps it is all about taking 'the rough with the smooth?'
I will take that thought with me for tomorrow. :)
