The are indubitably more cycles around at this time of year compared to last year and then the year before that, but this year even more of them are dressing unnecessarily hipsterishly and jumping reds, in this case extremely slowly and wobblily but a jumped red is a jumped red. He was then startled by the cyclist passing him on his right at a far greater (but still quite normal) speed, so much so that he veered leftwards into the place where I would have been had I not been hanging back to watch him in case he did something wobbly.
