RHS Wisley
After going backwards for some considerable time on the congested M25, we finally arrived at Wisley, which was so busy that folks had to be shuttled on a bus from where we parked! However, it is a big enough place to comfortably absorb enthusiastic families on Easter Egg Hunts and grumbly oldies looking for a bit of peace and quiet.
We literally fell in to the restaurant, glad of a place to come down and build up again before enjoying the gardens in the sunshine. Sadly the bulbs have all gone through and lots of other stuff is on the edge of bursting in to bloom so no shots of the huge borders which run down to the lake and the stunning glass house, they will be fabulous in summer. The rock garden rather put our little one to shame, but that and the alpine house gave me much to photograph and research when we are back home, for additions to ours. I did treat myself to a very pretty Lewisia Cotyledon and a deep blue Gentian (which will need some special attention as it likes a limey soil.) Tony stocked up on his favourite brand of vegetable seedlings so they are sitting on the desk in the Premier Inn now. I hope the cleaning person doesn't think we've brought cannabis plants!!
Having enjoyed wandering Wisley, we treated ourselves to an ice cream then hopped on the shuttle back to the carpark. We couldn't face the M25 at rush hour again so took a winding way through the country lanes to our hotel here on the edge of Farnborough.
The rest of the evening will be spent relaxing in readiness for the Sprint event tomorrow at Aldershot and, no doubt, 1000s of orienteer blips!
My blip is taken at Wisley across a hillside of fritillaries, narcissi, wood anemones and cowslips, so pretty!
