We drove 1k off the main road to a viewpoint and there was a man operating a 5 seater helicopter who had two spare seats to go up in about half an hour. The weather is fantastic today but rain predicted tomorrow. So we just had to go. Fantastic views. We flew up along the range to 9000 ft. You can also see the Tasman glacier bottom left
