Primrose Day

Today, in 1904, was the wedding day of my great-grandparents Rosa (known as Jack) and Edwin. My great-aunt, their daughter (also Rosa) told me that 19 April was called Primrose Day, so 115 years later I went in search of primroses and found these lovelies in Oxford Botanic Gardens.

Apparently Primrose Day marks the anniversary of the death of Benjamin Disraeli in 1881.
