Come sit with me....
....it's just after 8.30am, the sun is streaking under the trees lighting up tossed golden leaves which have fallen. All is quiet except for the twitter of a couple of fantails flitting from branch to branch and a couple of blackbirds fossicking in the gardens. The air fills with the smell of freshly baked hot cross buns coming out of the ovens from the bakery across the road, certainly gets the taste buds going.
Traffic starts up nearer to 9am as shops open and the gutter man arrives to clear the gutters along Queen street which is lined with huge oak trees on both sides. Looks pretty but at this time of the year the residents are unhappy as their properties are littered with huge golden leaves which blow and twirl in the wind and acorns appear to be falling from the sky. They would like the trees to be chopped down, heaven forbid, it's only for a few weeks, makes one wonder who was there first? Looking at the trees I would think they were there first. In summer they provide much needed shade from our hot nor'west days. Every year the topic comes up, every year the trees are left standing - thankfully.
Perhaps we need to go and buy our hot cross buns before there is a queue as they're award winning hot cross buns from this bakery, nice with a cuppa.
Happy Easter everyone :)
