Fun in the sun
After a little lie in (although not much sleep) I finally managed to peel myself out of bed to see what the day had to offer. I was greeted with a beautiful sunshine drawing me out, so I snapped up some breakfast and decided to get out for a run - my first one in a few weeks! The sun was shining, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. I ran up to the top of blackford hill - my favourite view of Edinburgh - and then down the steps along the river to find myself at the bottom of morningside. I was only was out for about an hour but with almost no wind it was more than enough, and I was ready for a shower.
The plan was to then meet JD for lunch on the meadows, slackline and go to the library. I managed to do 2 out of the 3 of those things. I’ll leave it to you to figure out which on I missed out on. There was such a buzz on the meadows, Edinburgh is a very special place in the sun. People slowly came out and joined us throughout the day, all having a quick go on the slackline before abandoning it and opting to relax in the sun instead.
Later on, after a lovely dinner cooked by my flatmate, I went to meet JD forró workshop. For those who don’t know (me included before the workshop) forró is a ‘traditional’ dance that originates from Brazil. This was meant to be a beginners workshop and was part of the Iberodocs festival, which JD is working for. However, we quickly found out JD and I were the only ‘true’ beginners, which made for an amusing watch I’m sure. Although I love a good boogy, I’ve not attended an official ‘dance class’ since learning some basic Charleston in Year 6 of primary school, so to say I was slightly nervous would be an understatement. But it was lots of fun, and definitely an experience. The teacher, despite his distracting shoes, was amazing. Done properly forró is beautiful, however, I was definitely not doing it properly. But we smiled and laughed through it. Enjoyed it, but not in a rush to try it again. An amazing day, and as always when I’m out with JD, a day filled with laughter and fun!
I even managed to get another boogy in before the end of the night when I went to see a friend of mine DJ at a club.
I will make it to the library tomorrow.
