Flooding on the River Axe

Not surprising after all then rain we had overnight the River Axe has overflowed it banks and several roads are closed. Most of this valley leading down to the sea is a part of the natural river flood plane so this will be mainly farm land but on top of the recent floods the ground is all waterlogged and some properties will no doubt be affected. I haven't heard of any houses in the town being affected but the fire brigade have been back and forward all day.

The bank across the picture about 1/3 from the bottom, is the embankment which carries the main line between Exeter and Waterloo. Last week the line was closes due to a landslip. Thankfully we live someway up from the valley bottom and have nor been effected. The forecast here is rain, rain and more rain! Hay ho!!!
