THIS IS HOW
I found the fennel seed heads that grow in containers on the terrace.
The alarm clock did wake us to 5 am and we took an early lightrail and trains to the Weser Uplands. Near our destination the sun came peeping through the clouds and we were so glad, Piet Hein, Mischa and I, that it was still so light as we arrived.
Mischa saw the hut for the first time, outside and inside too of course and her room renovated, a lovely surprise.
The nuthatch came immediately looking for sunflower seeds when she did hear our footsteps.
The trunk on which I put the seeds for the birds had innumerable holes in it, clearly made by the woodpecker.
The quietness, one easily forget, is so beneficial here. The neighbour told us that there had been a lot of snow that had disappeared by the rain, but more snow and cold is expected. We like that!
My haiku:
Between the tall trees
The quietness where only birds
Make their soft noises
And the proverb from the Old Testament, Isaiah:
In quietness and confidence shall be your strength.
