Cheerful after 48 years!

Our friends are celebrating their 48th Wedding Anniversary today! And we were present at the marriage itself, so long ago.

They have stopped off with us overnight on their way back from the south of France to the Manchester area, where they will spend Christmas with an elderly mother and hordes of children and grandchildren. With luck, they will come back here for the New Year.

These are the friends who so kindly drove us back from France rather over a year ago after our own car was written off by a disagreement with a rock in a remote part of the valley of the Tarn. My Blipfoto entry for Sunday 13 November 2011 shows our arrival back at our home with them on that occasion, and the entries for the preceding days illustrate parts of the story.

We tried to create a celebratory atmosphere and meal here for this good couple's anniversary, and compensate slightly for their abandoning the blue skies and warmth of their little village in the Hérault. Outside our home it was definitely damp and dismal; inside we had good cheer, assisted by some supplies brought from France.
